26/11/2008, INDIA: A conspiracy against the Nation

26 November 2008, a day that will be remembered for a looooong time to come..A day of terror..A day of awakening (hopefully). But it makes me sad to see the failure of our intelligence.. What were they doing when these ships came to our harbours?? What were they doing when they entered three different hotels and started firing?? I am sure they were enjoying their beer and rum.
I am a very dry person in general, but my heart wept that day..It wept to see all those survivers come out of those buildings; some injured, severly, some in shock and the others who couldn't make it at all. I wouldn't have felt so strong had it been some natural calamity; or for that matter a bomb explosion (you see,i am used to them now, sad, i know) but this is different. This is a perfet example of our intelligence failure..I am angry..I am very angry..But am i gonna be heard? Is there anyone out there who is going to help me??
The drama began on the 26th.. I was busy watching a soap when I got a call from my granda asking me to switch on a news channel..And there it was!! TERROR STRIKES MUMBAI! Terrorists in Taj Mahal Hotel.. First strike at Leopold..news flash- Some nigerians fought outside Leopold which led to an open fire against each other.
Strike 2: Taxi blast -> A taxi along with its driver has been blown to pieces. Another round of bomb explosions in mumbai??
Strike 3: Terrorists at Taj, Oberoi- Trident -> One can hear a lot of gunfire. It seems to be a gang-war
Strike 4: Mumbai Police in action -> Mumbai police station outside Taj and Oberoi- Trident
Strike 5: ATS Chief Dead -> Bullets in the chief's chest..ATS Chief dead. (I mean what the hell was he thinking?? A helmet was gonna save his life when the militants had hijacked a police car?!! I guess he forgot the basic rule of war or competition => never ever under estimate your enemy, opponent.)
Strike 6: Salaskar and Kamte feared dead -> Encounter specialist Salaskar and ACP Kamte dead
Strike 7: A serious issue -> Its not a gang war but a serious act of terrorism
Strike 8: Face of terror -> Two of the terrorists caught on camera
Strike 9: Taj, Oberoi- Trident -> Terrorists inside the buildings throwing hand grenads..explosions can be heard.
Strike 10: Centre Union Minister declares the dispatchment of National Security Guards
Strike 11: Army in action -> Mumbai police fighting it out till help arrives. Acting like an army!!
Strike 12: More explosions -> More explosions at Taj. Window on fire. Thick smoke seen.
Strike 13: More explosions -> Another explosion at Taj. One more window on fire.
Strike 14: Fire brigade -> Fire Brigade joins the Mumbai Police to save the victims (people and the infrastructure! They were fabulous!)
Strike 15: NSG in action -> Mum Pol briefs the Army, Marines and NSG
Strike 16: NSG takeover -> NSG calls the shots
[But they were the underdogs when it came to the information regarding the layout of the buildings. Plus they had to save and rescue as much civilians as possible. Plus they had to comb through all the roms that were filled with blood..get the survivors out of the building and then proceed. These conditions made them slow in their operation.]
Strike 17: Its a WAR -> NSGs do a fantastic job of rescuing as much civilians as possible.
Strike 18: Nariman House -> Terrorists at Nariman House!!
Strike 19: Trident safe -> Terrorists have now gone to the old Oberoi building through the inter-linked Oberoi-Trident passage. Combing operation at Hotel Trident
Strike 20: Floor 8 -> NSG faces some resistance on the 8th floor
Strike 21: Oberoi-Trident operation near completion: NSG has now started combing the Hotels
Meanwhile, CM visits the site:- I mean, what was the point that he was trying to prove with his visit?? The operation was yet to be complete even though it was safe then.. On a site that was so dangerous,if you are of no help, then the least one can do is avoid being a nuisance. And there he was doing exactly that. He was there "visiting" the site affected..Why?? To be the smiling hero that we usually see in the movies who comes at the end of a casualty to claim his credit?? Credit for what I ask?? I demand him to answer the questions of the citizens..You couldn't save the city from the terrorists and now you have the damn nerve to come on our screens and tell us that your intellingence failed!!!!! WE ARE WITNESSING THE FAILURE Mr. Chief Minister.
Strike 22: Oberoi- Trident operation sucessful -> Oberoi- Trident is safe..30 people dead till now..Terrorists have been gunned down.
Strike 23: Nariman House -> a difficult operation because of its strategic location.
Strike 24: R.R.Patil -> Another act of nuisance. Maharashtra Home Minister visits Oberoi-Trident after the whole thing is over and is safe and secure to venture.
Strike 25: Nariman operation successful -> People take to roads to rejoice the victory after a NSG guard shows a thumbsup.
Strike 26: Nariman operation not over -> Police had to lathi charge a few to clear the area.
Strike 27: Nariman over at last! -> 5 hostages dead and 2 terrorists gunned down

This act of terror..this act of ignorance on our intelligence part makes me sad; but the act of sacrifice by our jawans..their act of bravery makes me proud.
During this whole saga, 14 policemen, 2 Armymen and 1 NSG has died (I hope the stats are right..if not please correct me.)..
Civilians in 100s have died, including a senior Times of India journalist and Yes Bank's Chief!!
Taj Mahal's general manager's family died..
Their are so many individuals stories!!
There was high drama..Action unlimited..A love story (apparently) seen, apparently Marines found two bodies that of a couple who died in each other's arms..they were still hugging eachother when their dead bodies were discovered!
By the end of the Nariman operation, it drizzled as well!!!!!!!
The stupid politicians played their part to the hilt.

Under the guise of unity, voting campaigns were subtly undertaken!!!!! I got a message asking me "where was Raj Thackrey with his goondas when Mumbai was suffering while the non-Marathi NSG guards were fighting it out.." But I'd like to say something to whoever coined this message and the ones stupid enough to circulate it to almost to the whole of India (Am sure), My Dear whoevers, this message shows your stupidity..I am not a very staunch MNS supporter but am a Maharashtrian and do support his cause but definitely not its execution..Raj Thackrey is a leader of a small regoinal party..This was not a regional or a communal fight between civilians..This is not something that was only and mind you only Mumbai centric..This is something more than Mumbai..Bigger than Mumbai..This is India-centric..Mumbai was just a place chosen to execute..
But, I guess I can't blame the stupid ignorants as our politicians are not helping much either..Even they are seen mixing political interests with this anti-national attack..I guess if one looks at this in a very selfish political perspective, this terror attack has been fruitful for election campaigns!!!!!!! How low can one think!! I'll put this act of shame even above the terror act.
It has been confirmed by now that these militants were from Pakistan. Almost all terrorists have been gunned down by now except that (those) at the Taj..cause the operation is still on as I write.. 1 terrorist has been captured and he is a Paki..
Even after such a confirmation our government does nothing..All it does is "warn" the neighbouring countries!!
I am SICK of the stupid cliches like "the Spirit of Mumbai" that our government keeps on putting in our mouthes like a pacifier..What will the Mumbaikar do?? He/ She doesn't have a choice even in the time of terror as he/ she has a family to support, a baby to feed, a daughter/ son to send for college, a set of parents to take care of.. Government, we don't choose to go to our work place to keep up the spirit..we HAVE to for lack of choice.
I am SICK of watching government after government assuring me sfety and security..I don't ask for any resignations as I know, whoever replaces the current corrupts is not gonna be any different..
When will I be secure in my own country?? This terror act proved that one is just not safe..it doesn't matter if your rich or poor..
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
I am the last person to compare or mention the USA even for the purpose of giving an example, but I dn't have a choice here.. When will we have a dynamic, young leader who cares for his/ her nation and wants to make a difference?? One who is chosen by a majority (for the citizens want him/ her chosen) and not a coilition govt.
I am angry.I am a dissatisfied citizen.I want answers and not mere resignations.
Concrete answres. Not just pacifiers put in my mouth to shut me up but a real assurance that will make me fell secure.
Iwant to see some concrete action taken in that direction. When will I see that??
When will I see that?
I ask, when will I see that?
26/ 11/2008, India. A day of terror..Aday of awakening?
